Cherryholmes
Boston Debut!
Sunday, March 2, 3pm, Sanders Theatre

In 2000, inspired by music they heard at a bluegrass festival, the Cherryholmes family decided to become a band and learn to play the music they loved. A mere five years later the Cherryholmes band won the International Bluegrass Music Association’s Entertainer of the Year award. It sounds like pure Hollywood, but their story is moving and marvelously true. From the rip-roaring, lickety-split of Cia Leigh’s banjo to Molly Kate’s and BJ’s fiery fiddle work; the Cherryholmes family has taken bluegrass music by storm.

"As recently as 1999, the only place you would have been able to hear [this] family band was in its California living room. But today they have a Nashville address, a handful of industry awards, a regular gig at the Grand Ole Opry and a spot on Ricky Skaggs’ record label."
