Takács Quartet with Muzsikás
and special guest Márta Sebestyén

Sunday, November 16, 3pm, NEC’s Jordan Hall

The folk music Béla Bartók recorded in the far corners of his native Hungary in the early 20th century informed his music for the rest of his life. The Takács Quartet, has partnered with Muzsikás—a remarkable group passionately dedicated to Hungarian folk music to create a unique program that illuminates the connections between Hungary’s most famous composer and the music of its people by juxtaposing Bartók’s compositions with their related folk counterparts. In addition to live performances, the evening will include selections from Bartók’s actual field recordings.
