Kremerata Baltica
Gidon Kremer,
violin and leader
Celebrity Series Debut
Friday, November 12, 2010, 8pm, NEC’s Jordan Hall

The Grammy Award-winning chamber orchestra, Kremerata Baltica, was created by Latvian violinist Gidon Kremer in 1997 as a "birthday present" to himself. It is a present of which he has made exquisite use. Under his direction, the ensemble plays with rare intensity, precision, delicacy, and flair. The exceptional talents of the individual musicians—all from the Baltic States—and Mr. Kremer’s innovative approach to repertoire have cemented this 27-member ensemble’s reputation for enormously high artistic quality.

“Mr. Kremer, leading his fine young ensemble of players, remains one of the truly interesting musicians among us today.” —The New York Times

“They animate everything their bows touch.”
—The Los Angeles Times
