Haochen Zhang, piano
2009 Van Cliburn Gold Medalist Friday, December 3, 2010, 8pm, NEC’s Jordan Hall
Four days after celebrating his 19th birthday, Haochen Zhang won a Gold Medal at the 13th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. For those that witnessed the Shanghai native perform all fifteen Bach two-part inventions at the age of five, this success may not be surprising, but Zhang now plays well beyond childhood accomplishments. In the words of The Dallas Morning News, he has "demonstrated a musical maturity almost unimaginable in one so young."
