Andreas Scholl countertenor
Sunday, October 23, 3pm, NEC’s Jordan Hall
The English Concert, founded in 1972 by Trevor Pinnock, has long been regarded as one of the world’s leading period instrument ensembles, and under the leadership of harpsichordist Harry Bicket it shows every sign of continuing its illustrious tradition of excellence. The ensemble is joined in this concert by the sensational German countertenor Andreas Scholl in his Celebrity Series debut.
"Scholl, his voice dusky and sensuous, caressed the syllables … stretching and folding phrases with thrilling ease. He never ceased to amaze and enthrall.” —Chicago Tribune
