With Eternal Echoes, Itzhak Perlman has expanded on his 1997 recording Live in the Fiddler’s House, which celebrated the rich tradition of Jewish music. Eternal Echoes, which will be released by Sony in the fall of 2012, weaves an even broader tapestry of music, both sacred and secular, classical and popular, with guests artists and chamber orchestra.

“This is an amazing opportunity for me to work with the “Kohen Gadol” of music today.” – Yitzchok Meir Helfgot

“Everything that I recognize from my childhood is in this program. And, of course, Helfgot can do anything. So it’s a win-win combination.” – Itzhak Perlman

English Translations of Tonight's Vocal Selections (edited by Hankus Netsky)

R'tzay (Be Favorable)

Be favorable, Lord our God, toward Your people Israel and their prayer,
and restore the service to Your most holy Sanctuary.
Accept Israel's fire offerings and prayer with gracious love.
May the service of Your people Israel be ever pleasing to You.
May our eyes behold your return in mercy to Zion.
Blessed are You, oh Lord, who restores your divine presence to Zion.

Sholom Aleykhem (Peace Upon You)

Peace upon you, O ministering angels, angels of the Exalted One—
from the King Who reigns over kings, the Holy One, Blessed is He.
May your coming be for peace, O angels of peace, angels of the Exalted One—
from the King Who reigns over kings, the Holy One, Blessed is He.
Bless me for peace, O angels of peace, angels of the Exalted One—
from the King Who reigns over kings, the Holy One, Blessed is He.
May your departure be to peace, O angels of peace, angels of the Exalted One—
from the King who reigns over kings, the Holy One, Blessed is He.

T'filas Tal (Prayer for Dew)
Yossele Rosenblatt, arranged by Hankus Netsky and Jesse Gelber

Grant dew to favor the land,
Make us blessed with rejoicing,
With plenty of grain and wine may You strengthen us,
Establish the city containing Your delight with dew.

Grant dew for a good year,
Crowned with the splendid fruit of the land,
The city left like a lone booth,
Let Your hand make it a crown with dew.

Let dew fall sweetly on the blessed land,
Bless us with the delicacies of heaven,
In the darkness let a light dawn,
For the fundamental nation that follows You – with dew.

Let dew sweeten the honey of the mountains,
Let the chosen savor Your abundance,
Free Your favored ones from bondage,
So that we may sing and exult with dew.

Yism'chu (They Shall Rejoice)

They shall rejoice in your kingship,
those who observe the Sabbath and call it a delight.
The people that sanctifies the seventh day will all feast
and be delighted from your goodness.
And as for the seventh day, you found favor in it and sanctified it,
Calling it "The most coveted of all days," a remembrance of the work of creation

A Dudele (A Song to You)

Master of the universe, Master of the universe, Master of the universe,
Master of the universe, Master of the Universe!
I will sing a song to You:
You, You, You, You, You!

Where can I seek You, and where can I not seek You?
Where can I find You,
And where can I not find You?
You, You, You, You, You!

Wherever I go, it's You!
And wherever I stand, You're there!
Always You, only You, again, it's You, above all, You.
You, You, You, You, You!

When something is good – You!
And, God forbid, when something's bad, it's also You!
Oy You, You, You, You, You, You!

In the east, You; In the west, You,
In the south, You, In the north, You.
You, You, You, You, You!

In the heavens, You, on the earth, You,
Above, You, below, You,
You, You, You, You, You!

Wherever I turn,
No matter which way I go,
You, You!

Mizmor L'Dovid (A Psalm of David)
Text based on Psalm 23

A psalm of David.
The Lord is my shepherd; I lack nothing.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
He leads me to water in places of repose;
He renews my life;
He guides me in right paths as befits His name.
Though I walk through a valley of deepest darkness,
I fear no harm, For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff—they comfort me.
You spread a table for me in full view of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup is more than full.
Only goodness and steadfast love shall pursue me All the days of my life,
And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord
For many long years.

Shoyfer Shel Moshiakh (Ram's Horn of the Messiah)

How obvious it is to everyone
That deep in a cave, under a stone,
our crown has been lying for many long years.
David, King of Israel, arise from your slumber, our dear shepherd,
Tell us what to do.
See how your poor sheep are cast about,
And no one takes them in to shelter.
But when he hears the sound of the Messiah's ram's horn ("Tkioh"),
He would straight-away arise from his grave ("Tkioh").
Then he would sit upon his rightful place,
Picking up his fiddle to play;
And many musicians would give forth in music,
And every Jew would sing the well-known melodies of the Psalms,
The great waters would be calmed,
The leaves of the forest trees would stop rustling.
While David the king with his fiddle
Will play a happy song.
Israel is not yet lost;
Israel will be born anew.
Sing, oh sing a song of praise,
To the living God!

Sheyibone Bays Hamikdosh (May the Holy Temple Be Rebuilt)

May it be your will, oh Lord, our God and God of our ancestors,
that the Holy Temple be rebuilt, speedily and in our days,
and grant us a share in Your Torah, and may we serve You there with reverence,
as in the days of old and as in former years.
Then the offering of Judah and Jerusalem will be pleasing to the Lord,
as in the days of old and as in former years.
