Award-winning playwright and screenwriter Tony Kushner and bestselling author Sarah Vowell will examine the life’s work and legacy of Abraham Lincoln, the nation’s 16th president. Kushner penned the 1993 Tony Award-winning play Angels in America, and wrote the screenplay for Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln. Vowell, a best-selling author, journalist, essayist, social commentator, and actress, has written seven nonfiction books about American history and culture, including Assassination Vacation and The Wordy Shipmates.

A leading scholar on the Civil War era, moderator John Stauffer is the Sumner R. and Marshall S. Kates Professor of English and African and African American Studies at Harvard University.
