From the outrageously brilliant cabaret singing of actor Alan Cumming to the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis, you will find the 2017-18 season brings the rich variety, quality, adventure, and discovery that create indelible memories.
The stars are here, from Yo-Yo Ma and Martha Argerich, to Audra McDonald and the Los Angeles Philharmonic with Gustavo Dudamel. There are also some remarkable new faces we know you'll love, such as the Austrian period instrument quartet Quatuor Mosaïques, the brilliant, technologically driven dance of Company Wayne McGregor, jazz saxophone titan Joshua Redman with Brooklyn Rider, and China's classic Huayin Shadow Puppet Band. Our 2017-18 season also features innovative artistry in the unique creative direction of choreographer Kader Attou's French hip hop laboratory, Compagnie Accrorap, and the re-invented circus of Australia's Circa.
If there is one single performer identified with the Celebrity Series in the eyes of Bostonians it is Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. From the moment the still-young company first performed in Boston—for one night only at John Hancock Hall in 1968—then Executive Director Walter Pierce’s determination that Ailey was something Boston simply must experience has borne fruit. And for the last 50 years, as Ailey has risen to the status of cultural icon, Boston has had a front seat. This season, we celebrate our 50-year journey with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.
We hope you’ll join us for a performance this season!
