Fabiola Méndez Trio

Sanative Arts Festival
Bartlett Station in Nubian Square, Roxbury (Corner of Bartlett Station Dr. and Washington St.)

In collaboration with Nuestra Comunidad Development Corporation, Neighborhood Arts presents this outdoor concert as part of Sanative Arts Fest 2021, a new summer series at Bartlett Station in Nubian Square, Roxbury.

Vocalist and cuatro player Fabiola Méndez and her trio -- Juan Maldonado on bass and Miguel Martínez on percussion -- sustained us through the pandemic with a couple of amazing digital concerts. Now that in-person performances have resumed, it’s our pleasure to share this trio with a live audience.

Fabiola Méndez is a standout on the Puerto Rican cuatro, a ten-stringed instrument similar to a guitar but shaped like a violin. She and her trio have created a sound that blends folkloric music, jazz, and Latin styles; they take Puerto Rico’s beloved traditional instrument to new places.

From innovative concerts in the comfort of your living room to outdoor collaboration featuring virtuosic Boston-based artists, this season will feel both familiar and new!
