Batsheva Dance Company, Venezuela; Choreography by Ohad Naharin

Boch Center Shubert Theatre

Batsheva Dance Company has been critically acclaimed and popularly embraced as one of the foremost contemporary dance companies in the world. Based in Tel Aviv and led by renowned choreographer Ohad Naharin for the past 27 years, Batsheva is known worldwide for its innovative and distinctive style. Naharin is widely considered to be one of the great choreographers of his generation. The eighteen dancers of Batsheva’s senior company are cast globally and trained by Naharin in his original movement language he has coined “Gaga.” Set to a wide range of music from Gregorian chant to tango to hip-hop, Naharin’s newest work, Venezuela, explores the relationship between movement and the content it represents and juxtaposes the familiar with the unfamiliar. Don’t miss this extraordinary chance to witness one of the world’s most important contemporary dance companies.

The running time for this work is 84 minutes, without intermission. At the request of the artists, there will be no late seating, so please plan ahead.
