Doug Varone and Dancers (Canceled)

NEC - Black Box

This performance has been canceled. We hope to bring the artists to Boston for a yet-to-be-determined future season.

For more than 30 years, Doug Varone and Dancers has devoted itself to the humanity and virtuosity of dance, reaching out to audiences well beyond the proscenium arch. The recipient of 11 Bessie Awards, the Company has toured to more than 125 cities in 45 states across the US and in Europe, Asia, Canada, and South America. This program includes the company’s latest work, Somewhere. Inspired by Varone’s life-long obsession with the 1961 movie version of West Side Story, this is a purely abstract dance work that absorbs the iconic masterpiece in all its aspects without re-enacting any of its dramatic narrative.

Seating for this performance is limited.

“… filled with the most sublime invention, Somewhere seems destined to become a classic work of contemporary dance.”
