This performance has been canceled for the 2020-2021 season, but has been rescheduled to the 2021-2022 season, with date, time, and venue to be announced in Spring 2021. Ticket sales for the rescheduled performance will begin at next season's subscription sales launch.

The incomparable Joyce DiDonato returns to the Celebrity Series after her triumphant performance of SongPlay in 2019, this time with a fresh and unique interpretation of Schubert’s iconic song-cycle Die Winterreise (Winter’s Journey). “With a voice nothing less than 24-carat gold”  (The Times, London), DiDonato takes the audience through a dramatic performance of the masterpiece from the perspective of the protagonist’s love interest. “What happens to the winter’s journey,” DiDonato asks, “when we feel it through the heart of the one who was the impetus of such agony and despair? The survivor. The one left behind.”

“DiDonato is a natural stage animal and playing the cycle as an extended dramatic monologue allowed her to claim the text as if she was encountering it for the very first time.”
