Owls
Alexi Kenney, violin
Ayane Kosaza, viola
Gabriel Cabezas, cello
Paul Wiancko, cello
Called “a dream group” by the New York Times, Owls’ two-cello sound and eclectic programming – their arrangements of music from the 1600s to the present – make them a must-hear group for adventurous music lovers.
Each of the members is a formidable soloist and creative force, but when they come together, Owls creates meaningful, personal concert experiences. Count on fantastically diverse programming – recent programs have included works by Chick Corea, eighteenth-century composer François Couperin, and Owls’ own cellist/composer Paul Wiancko – beautiful and unique sound worlds, and an exhilarating performance without limits.
“The Owls string quartet’s program in a church crypt showed off the ensemble’s unusual makeup…The ensemble’s low-end theory of the string quartet paid off handsomely…Owls ought to thrive”
