What's coming in 2024

We're not even at the halfway point of the current season: there are a lot of amazing performances left, including brilliant and bold new statements from longtime Celebrity Series artists, exciting debuts from next-generation artists in all fields, thought provoking team-ups, dance companies from across the world, two of Europe's most distinctive orchestras, classical legends we always love to welcome back, and three concerts by Broadway legends that will wow you.

It's not too late to subscribe: choose 3 performances from the 2024 roster and you qualify for ticket exchange, no-fee additional tickets, and so much more!

New Artistic Leadership

2023/24 is the first season programmed by Artistic Director Nicole Taney. We invite you to explore the roster of returning, new-to-us, and new-to-Boston artists that she has assembled and the important projects that they will bring to our stages. Celebrity Series' co-commissioning collaborations this season include November's Alisa Weilerstein's FRAGMENTS 1, a stunning journey through one of Bach's Unaccompanied Cello Suites, and flow, a new work for the Takács Quartet by Nokuthula Ngwenyama.

Still to come: Dance, dance, dance

Dance companies big and small feature prominently in our 2024 lineup. Our second "semester" gets underway with two brilliant, founder-led companies at NEC's intimate Plimpton Shattuck Black Box Theatre. We step into 2024 with Music From the Sole, a dance and music company that makes connections between tap dance and related dance and music styles across the African Diaspora, especially in the United States and Brazil. Ashwini Ramaswamy's Let the Crows Come is a three-woman dance theater piece that brings together Bharatanatyam Indian classical dance, Afro-Modern, and Gaga to explore memory, dislocation, and ancestry across cultures. In the Theatre District, Israel's Vertigo Dance Company returns to the Shubert with the evening-length MAKOM, and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater closes out the season at the Boch Center Wang Theatre with new works and Ailey classics, from rarely-seen gems to the iconic Revelations

Just added: Max Raabe and Palast Orchester

We're excited to announce a new addition to the 2023/24 lineup: the return of vocalist and bandleader Max Raabe and his Berlin-based Palast Orchester. Their program, "Dream a Little Dream," pairs German cabaret classics from the Weimar period with American favorites from the same era by Cole Porter and Irving Berlin. The group's immaculate and versatile musicianship, endless style, and sly wit have won them countless fans around the world, and you're going to love them. Until January, this event is only available to add to a new or existing Celebrity Series subscription, so start building yours today! (Check out An Evening with Audra McDonaldAlan Cumming is Not Acting His Age, or Patti LuPone's A Life in Notes if you need some subscription inspo).
