Requiem: Fire in the Air of the Earth

In Requiem: Fire in the Air of the Earth, co-commissioned by Celebrity Series, Kyle Abraham poignantly reimagines Mozart’s Requiem.
There's a lot to get excited about in the 2022/23 Dance Series! In the new season, we welcome back Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and Paul Taylor Dance Company, both legendary modern dance companies reinvigorated for our moment, while holding true to their founders' legacies.
Two time-tested musical works get reinvented by two audacious creators. A.I.M by Kyle Abraham makes a Series debut with Requiem: Fire in the Air of the Earth (a work that Celebrity Series co-commissioned) that poignantly reimagines Mozart's Requiem through dance and electronic music. Australian contemporary circus virtuosi Circa and visionary artistic director Yaron Lifschitz take inspiration from Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring in Sacre.
And don't miss the debuts of two thrilling companies in the intimate surroundings of NEC's Plimpton Shattuck Black Box Theatre. Company SBB // Stefanie Batten Bland brings a thought-provoking dance theater piece Look Who's Coming to Dinner and LaTasha Barnes' The Jazz Continuum offers a buoyant, irresistible journey through the parallel evolution of jazz and Black American social dance.
Read on and explore the thrilling dance performances coming up in the new season. Choose any to start your subscription: pair with at least two more performances of any kind and curate your own experience.
