There's a lot to get excited about in the 2022/23 Dance Series! Still to come in this season, we'll welcome back Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and Paul Taylor Dance Company, both legendary modern dance companies reinvigorated for our moment, while holding true to their founders' legacies.
Two time-tested musical works get reinvented by two audacious creators. Australian contemporary circus virtuosi Circa and visionary artistic director Yaron Lifschitz take inspiration from Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring in Sacre. And in November 2022, A.I.M by Kyle Abraham made a compelling Series debut with Requiem: Fire in the Air of the Earth (a work that Celebrity Series co-commissioned) that reimagined Mozart's Requiem through dance and electronic music.
Two thrilling companies made Boston debuts in January in the intimate surroundings of NEC's Plimpton Shattuck Black Box Theatre. Company SBB // Stefanie Batten Bland brought a thought-provoking dance theater piece Look Who's Coming to Dinner and LaTasha Barnes' The Jazz Continuum had audiences smiling with a buoyant, irresistible journey through the parallel evolution of jazz and Black American social dance.
Read on and explore all the thrilling dance performances coming up in the new season, past and upcoming.
Until February 8 only, choose your performance of all three remaining performances - Circa, Paul Taylor Dance Company, and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater - to save 20% and pay no handling fees with a Dance Package!
