Since hearing the band’s debut in 1992, Celebrity Series audiences have known and loved the awe-inspiring musical juggernaut that is Wynton Marsalis and his Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. This time-tested ensemble always delivers a tight and polished experience that impeccably conjures the Big Band heyday, whether they are playing new works or reinterpreting classics. Marsalis’ insightful commentary and often-witty banter will draw you even closer to the music and the stories behind it.

Doric String Quartet with Benjamin Grosvenor, piano  

The Doric String Quartet is a leading quartet of its generation, receiving enthusiastic responses from audiences and critics across the globe. Pianist Benjamin Grosvenor joins the Quartet for British composer Frank Bridge’s Quintet in D minor. Grosvenor “commands the stage with aristocratic ease” and “makes you sigh with joy,” wrote the New York Times.

This season, Evgeny Kissin takes center stage with his first Symphony Hall solo recital since 2014. The event promises power, staggering technical prowess, and sublime music-making. The program features Bach’s Chromatic Fantasia and Fugue, Mozart’s Sonata No. 9 in D Major, and Chopin's Polonaise in F-sharp minor, Op. 44. The second half is devoted to late-Romantic composer Sergei Rachmaninoff, including selections from his Preludes and five of his Études-Tableaux.
