Circa

Sacre
Boch Center Shubert Theatre

Poetic tenderness. Raw emotion. Physical strength.

Ten acrobats from the Circa ensemble bring Stravinsky’s seminal The Rite of Spring to the circus stage. Pulsating with tension and infused with dark humour, this distinctive production from Artistic Director Yaron Lifschitz confronts humanity’s inter-connectivity, our inherent sexual desire, and relationship with divinity.

Featuring a piercing lighting design by Veronique Benett and a stirring new composition by Philippe Bachman for the first half, Sacre penetrates the senses and stirs the soul.

This production uses theatrical haze, smoke, and strobe effects. There are sections where the music will be loud.

Performance running time is 65 minutes, without intermission. Circa recommends this performance for ages 12 and up.

“Sacre is a performance of its generation, defying new techniques and new approaches to a traditional circus performance.”

LA Dance Chronicle

“...will mesmerize you from the very beginning.”

Broadway World

“The circus mastery, physical brilliance, and risk-taking choreography are what makes Circa a stand-out on the international stage. It’s a dance with its own unique flavor, stretching movement capabilities with each electric encounter. In a time where much of our lives are limited, it’s an inspiring awakening of what’s possible.”
