Silkroad Ensemble (Postponed to 2021-22)

Falling Out of Time, a song cycle by Osvaldo Golijov
Sanders Theatre

This performance has been canceled for the 2020-2021 season, but has been rescheduled to the 2021-2022 season, with date, time, and venue to be announced in Spring 2021. Ticket sales for the rescheduled performance will begin at next season's subscription sales launch.

Three years ago, renowned composer Osvaldo Golijov read David Grossman’s "Falling Out of Time." Part fable, part poem, part play, the book recounts a journey “out of time” as parents grieve the death of their child, trying to comprehend a loss with no name. Drawing on Grossman’s powerful text, Golijov wrote this song cycle for the Silkroad Ensemble, an all-star lineup that reads like a Who’s Who in the contemporary world music scene.

“The [Silkroad] vision of international cooperation is not what we read in our daily news reports. Theirs is the better world available if we, like these extraordinary musicians, agree to make it one.”
