Adrian Anantawan & Friends

A Concert featuring the Power of Disability and Adaptation

Canadian-born, Boston-based violinist Adrian Anantawan boasts a stellar resume. He is a frequent soloist with Boston Landmarks Orchestra and has performed with symphony orchestras across Canada. He holds degrees from Curtis Institute, Yale, and Harvard, and studied with Itzhak Perlman, Pinchas Zukerman, and Anne-Sophie Mutter. He’s an educator, with appointments at Berklee College and Milton Academy, and serves as the artistic director of Shelter Music Boston.

He's an outstanding violinist with a sound and a technique that are all his own: Anantawan has always played with an adaptive device on his bow arm, and champions a multidisciplinary project to develop adaptive instruments for young musicians with disabilities.

Anantawan’s talent and his determination got the world’s attention: he performed at the White House, the United Nations, and at the Opening Ceremony of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. 

Closer to home, he’s an advocate and a mentor who gives a platform to the next generation of disabled musicians. Adrian co-founded the Music Inclusion Ensemble at Berklee, a group of disabled musicians and allies who perform works by disabled composers, changing the conversation around the intersection of music and disability.
