Dashon Burton, bass-baritone

Lindsay Garritson, piano
Longy's Pickman Hall

A founding member of contemporary vocal ensemble Roomful of Teeth, Burton is equally at home performing as a soloist in Bach’s St. Matthew Passion, as Sarastro in Mozart’s Die Zauberflote, or as the featured artist in Caroline Shaw’s The Listeners. In his Celebrity Series recital debut, Dashon will present a uniquely American program with works by John Jacob Niles, to Kurt Weill’s Four Songs of Walt Whitman, Paul Bowles’ Blue Mountain Ballads and selections of Moses Hogan Spirituals.

Seating for this performance is limited.

“This young American singer is the real thing–a bass-baritone with a rich, rounded voice, faultless diction and a natural, expressive style that had one hanging on every word.”
