At what point does a “rising star” simply become a star? At only 27 years old, Swift is the latest jazz musician to blur those lines. She’s one of the hottest vocalists of the moment, and her varied ambitions suggest that will be true for a long time to come. Though she’s a mighty jazz singer by any measurement, Swift also stands out for her exceptional skills at vocalese and improvised scat singing, uncommon traits for a modern jazz vocalist of any age.

Across a range of originals and reimagined classics (primarily, but not exclusively, from jazz and the Great American Songbook), Swift and her first-rate band exhibit great showmanship and technical prowess, while also maintaining a high level of musicality and engaging storytelling. Don’t miss this chance to catch another great vocalist at our revamped Spring Jazz Festival while she’s still, depending upon who you ask, a “rising star.”

Seating for this performance is limited. This performance is not eligible for group discounts.

“..a jazz lioness with a pure tone, large lungs, a knowing sense of repertoire, and sure swing style.”

JAZZ TIMES

“Ms. Swift—who might be the best scat singer since Ella Fitzgerald, Anita O’Day, Sarah Vaughan and Mel Tormé —tells wordless stories that make perfect sense musically and dramatically. Her nonverbal flights of fancy have real emotional resonance and narrative thrust, with beginnings, middles and ends.…her gifts for musical storytelling have also expanded exponentially over the past few years.”
