Vocalist Zakiyyah is a Boston-based artist-activist who has performed for audiences at venues including the House of Blues, Symphony Hall, and, in a recent career highlight, at the United Nations.
Zakiyyah’s artistic background encompasses theatre, opera, hip-hop, jazz, and R&B; her versatility lets her craft a sound that is uniquely her own. Offstage, Zakiyyah’s experience in politics, international study and artistic scholarship, education, and racial equity consulting inform the sound and substance of her music. She’s an artist with big ideas, and the talent to express them beautifully and unforgettably.
Her African Import program incorporates sounds from throughout the Black diaspora, from Hip-Hopera to R&B to Reggae.
“distinctive excellence that propelled her artistry into the ground-breaking force that the world will soon cherish”
