Welcome to 2023/24
Get ready to learn all about the slate of exciting 2023/24 performances. The season features brilliant and bold new statements from longtime Celebrity Series artists, exciting debuts from next-generation artists in all fields, thought provoking team-ups, dance companies from across the world, two of Europe's most distinctive orchestras, classical legends we always love to welcome back, and three concerts by Broadway legends that will wow you.
New Artistic Leadership
2023/24 is the first season programmed by new Artistic Director Nicole Taney. We invite you to explore the roster of returning, new-to-us, and new-to-Boston artists that she has assembled and the important projects that they will bring to our stages. Celebrity Series' co-commissioning collaborations this season include Alisa Weilerstein's FRAGMENTS 1, a stunning journey through one of Bach's Unaccompanied Cello Suites, and a new work for the Takács Quartet by Nokuthula Ngwenyama.
New Venue
In the 2023/24 season, we invite you to a lovely new venue, the 300-seat Meadow Hall at Groton Hill Music Center. Opened in 2022, Groton Hill Music Center is a spacious, comfortable, and inviting place to hear a concert: the natural wood and stone used throughout enhance the panoramic view of the countryside beyond the stage. Meadow Hall, the smaller of the two performance halls at the Groton Hill Music Center, has acoustics that are warm and vibrant, and its excellent sightlines offer an intimate concert experience.
All artists who appear in Boston or Cambridge and Groton will perform the same program in both locations.
Jazz Along the Charles
The season launches on Saturday, October 7 with the return of Jazz Along the Charles, a celebration of Boston's jazz community along the DCR's Charles River Esplanade. Twenty-five bands will interpret a single curated setlist in their own way, with their own style, and you can choose how you experience the concert. Move around, or watch one band from start to finish: your experience will be unlike anyone else's! The curators, Ken Field and Zahili Zamora, will choose tunes with a Boston or Massachusetts connection that are by, about, or made famous by women. Save the date for this fun, dynamic, evolving concert experience.
