It already seems like ancient history when pianist Christian Sands was being called a “jazz star of the future” by luminaries like Wynton Marsalis and longtime trio-mate Christian McBride. Now barely into his 30s, Sands is a six-time GRAMMY Award nominee, widely recognized bandleader, and first-call sideman among the industry’s best. He has covered so much stylistic ground in his short career that it’s hard to say exactly what tonight’s program will include, but expect a varied program of modern jazz drawing from the music’s many historic roots and contemporary offshoots.

Seating for this performance is limited. This performance is not eligible for group discounts.

“…few of his peers have so many achievements to contemplate: piano prodigy at the age of four, leading gigs at 12 and playing with masters like Billy Taylor, Oscar Peterson and Herbie Hancock during his teens.”

DownBeat

“When I first met Christian in 2009, it marked a seminal moment in my career as a bandleader. He was the FIRST young musician I’d met who had the drive, passion, and skill of my peers like Roy Hargrove, Eric Reed, Greg Hutchinson, and Antonio Hart. He’s only worried about being the best musician he can possibly be. He’s the ultimate professional.”
